They repaired our burned-out shop, we continued our business
Şener Çuhacı who said that the damage caused by fire was repaired within a month, said “They practically made a new store from scratch. We continued business right where we left off.”
Where we live, we hear of hundreds, even thousands of incidents every day. But we act like no such thing could happen to us. Şener Çuhacı also thought like this until a short time ago when bad luck struck him and changed his mind. After the fire which broke out in the Mişmiş Dry Goods shop located in Ankara that Şener Çuhacı owns, everything inside was damaged. After a team of restoration experts reversed the damage during a period of one month, Mr. Çuhacı said, “We couldn’t have done it on our own.”
Şener Çuhacı, the shop owner, described the period during and after the fire: “We lived through and event that I thought would never happen, right on the eve of the Eid holiday. That night, I closed the store and went home. Later the phone rang and one of the neighboring store owners called to say the alarm was ringing in my store. I quickly went back to work only to see that smoke was rising from the building so I called the fire department. The firemen tried hard to put out the fire but once it was out, it left a lot of damage behind. I thought of the insurance policy I took out on my store and I quickly called the insurance company. My insurance company sent to me a restoration company to repair the damage. In 2 days, a team from BMS came and began to work.”
We couldn’t have done it without insurance
Çuhacı, who was very happy about the work performed, pointed out that the restoration team were able to repair all the damage. “We couldn’t have gotten through it by ourselves,” said Çuhacı. “They had painters and electricians, different team members to deal with each part of the loss. We would have had trouble finding all those people. It’s not easy to find a team like that.”, he said. Mr. Çuhacı pointed out that nearly everything had burned in the store and that the restoration team worked from early morning until evening with great care, and that they renewed the shop within 1 month. “We couldn’t have done it without insurance, “ he said.
